
Amia Langer

Biography
Amia Langer, soprano, is a 2026 Teatro Nuovo Resident Artist, covering Fiorilla in Rossini's Il Turco in Italia. Ms. Langer most recently received an Encouragement Award from the 2025 Camille Coloratura Competition. Upcoming engagements include her Annapolis Opera and role debut as Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, and her company debut with Mercury Chamber Orchestra as Bastienne in Mozart: Cats and Mice (Bastien und Bastienne). She will also return to Ars Lyrica Houston as Euridice/La Musica in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo. In the 2024–2025 season, Ms. Langer performed the roles of Sandman/Dew Fairy with Grand Teton Music Festival as her company debut, made her role and company debut as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with Salt Marsh Opera, and later returned in concert featuring works by Verdi, Donizetti, Mozart, and Bernstein. She was also named a finalist in the 2025 Houston Saengerbund Vocal Competition, and appeared with Ars Lyrica Houston in concert featuring works by Monteverdi. During the 2023–2024 season, she sang with Chautauqua Opera Company’s and Houston Grand Opera’s outreach programs, appeared as a featured soloist with Ars Lyrica Houston, and was a 2024 Studio Artist with Chautauqua Opera Company. Ms. Langer's previous awards include an Encouragement Award from the Upper Midwest Region, North Dakota–Manitoba District Winner in the 2022-2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and finalist in the inaugural Duncan Williams Competition. Previous young artist programs include Chautauqua Opera Company, Festival Napa Valley’s Manetti Shrem Opera Program, Brevard Music Festival, and Houston Grand Opera’s Young Artist Vocal Academy.
