Amia Langer

Soprano

Biography

Amia Langer, sopranowas a 2024 Studio Artist with Chautauqua Opera Company, performing as Dew Fairy (Gretel cover) in the 2024 season as well as featuring in several other recitals and events. Upcoming events: She will return to Salt Marsh Opera in August for their concert, Music at the Lighthouse. She will also be performing the roles of Der Sandmännchen and Der Taumännchen (Sandman and Dew Fairy) with Grand Teton Music Festival in August 2025. Most recently Ms. Langer performed the role of Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi with Salt Marsh Opera in May 2025. She was also named as one of six finalists for the 10th annual Houston Saengerbund Vocal Competition in February 2025.
In the fall of 2024 she was a competitor in the Gerda Lissner Lieder/Song Competition, and she returned to Ars Lyrica Houston in November as a featured soloist in their concert "Madrigals of Love and War", highlighting works by Monteverdi.
In the 2023-2024 season Ms. Langer was Gretel in Hansel and Gretel vs. the Witch with Chautauqua Opera Company's education outreach program, member of the Houston Grand Opera's 2023-2024 Opera to Go! season in 
Katie: The Strongest of the Strong, as well as a featured soloist with Ars Lyrica Houston in works by Charpentier and C.P.E Bach. Favorite past roles include Margarita Xirgu (Ainadamar), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), and Anne Egerman (A Little Night Music)Past Awards include Encouragement Award at the Upper Midwest Region, and North Dakota-Manitoba District Winner in the 2023 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and finalist in the inaugural Duncan WIlliams Competition in the 2022-2023 season. Previous young artist programs include Chautauqua Opera Company, Festival Napa Valley Manetti Shrem Opera program, Brevard Music Festival, and Houston Grand Opera's Young Artist Vocal Academy.
